"The Crocodile" by Fyodor Dostoevsky

Last week, at the San Diego zoo, I learned how to tell the difference between an alligator and a crocodile (the crocodile's teeth are on the outside of its snout, visible when it closes his mouth) and today I've learned of the crocodile scarring that is a fascinating (and horrifying) rite of passage for young men of certain villages in Papua New Guinea (Google it,) so I've sort of got crocodiles on the brain.

Enter Dostoevsky with "The Crocodile" a story about a man eaten whole.

"Truth and light will come forth now from the crocodile."
