"The Missing" by Alissa Nutting

This weekend marked the Vegas Valley Book Festival where Alissa Nutting, author of one of the summer's more controversial novels, Tampa, was a guest speaker. Nutting who earned her PhD from University Nevada, Las Vegas is a local literary darling (although she's since moved to Ohio, I think) but I had yet to read her work until this evening.

Once the editor of Black Warrior Review, she's also authored Unclean Jobs for Girls and Women, a collection said to be both dark and hilarious. "The Missing" falls in this same category and transitions us well enough out of Halloween week into more messy living stories--which are my favorite!
