"The Eater" by Vivian Lawry

Here's an entertaining story served up at Post Road Magazine. It's a bit of parable, a bit of fable, a bit of magical realism and a whole bunch of food.

The inclusion of a sniper in this small town setting rings a bit false for me, but the story's fun enough to let me overlook it. Also, were it mine, which of course it is not, I would have called it "Eat, damn it! Eat!" but maybe  with fewer exclamation marks.
